High School Racers Near Finals

SAM at Saddleback Park

Once more , the scholastic association of motor sports had quite a phenomenal turnout of high school riders in their bi-weekly racing program at saddleback park . This Saturday the huge number of machines were divisioned into eleven different classes, which ran for two motos each and one can just a match and what type of showdown it is going to be for next week's championships!

There were several guys who really out shined everyone else today and one of these was definitely the yellow flash Luc De Ley. The Belgium origined De Ley is really starting to imitate the fast European riders with his long moto endurance and in the case of the 250 senior class, he had just that . Luc was successful in his attempt for Loara High School and in both of these long motos he just blew ahead of the competition for the sweep and overall win.

Number 97 , Brian Craze, his jet fast on his Maico, but even he could not keep De Ley in his site. Instead he managed to follow up the winner in style with two seconds and the big second place win. Probably the fastest ever for Gahr High School is Tony Schuler and he has been experiencing the thrill of winning in High School MX for some time. Today the other two were just a little quicker so Tony on his number 63H Yamaha just stroked around in third and landed a totally in that position.

One other man that out shined everyone in his contest was Cerritos high contestant Tony Gomez , who is by no means a new name to any one . Tony is always consistent in CMC Racing and has even ventured to the big time races such as the Hangtown MX just last month. His number 16F Suzuki sports some of the UFO products and it was out of vision from the closest people that fired off the starting pad act the same time .

While Tony was the only one who was categorized as a 125 senior he had fun out-distancing the 125 expert riders who were headed the whole time by Dave Dickenson. Dickenson ended up roosting on the pack while gassing his Suzuki for N. H. and dusted the competition who followed him to the checkered overall for the day with Dee Tryon (Cerritos) capturing the second over Steve Pafaff (Garden Grove), Russ Montano (Sonora) and Ladell Eide (Cerritos).
